Join the NC High Peaks Trail Association for a hiking featuring views of a couple of remote waterfalls on Saturday, Jan. 20.
The 6.5-mile hike includes a climb of about 1,200 feet and is rated as moderate to strenuous.
Hikers should assemble at the Colbert Creek Trailhead near Carolina Hemlocks Campground at 8:30 a.m. The group will carpool to the nearby trailhead on White Oak Creek Road and then hike solely on USFS land to reach two waterfalls on Locust Creek.
Bring lunch, snacks, water, hiking poles if you use them and warm clothes. Leashed dogs are allowed on the hike, but you must bring doggie bags to clean up after your pet.
For more information, contact Hike Leader Jimmie Bowen at 252-450-5224 or jbowen6116@gmail.com.
As always, check the High Peaks website or Facebook page for last-minute changes due to the weather.
